Gillard slams 9/11 remark
Prime Minister has slammed claims that 9/11 was an 'insider job'.
Prime Minister Julia Gillard has lambasted as "stupid" comments from the president of the Victorian Trades Hall Council that the September 11 attacks were an "inside job".
President of the Victorian Trades Hall Council Kevin Bracken told ABC Radio the 2001 attacks on the United States were not properly understood.
"In my mind the buildings were imploded," Mr Bracken said today.
"Aviation fuel doesn't get hot enough to melt steel and no high rise steel frame building before or after September 11 has ever collapsed due to fire."
Ms Gillard was questioned on the comments during parliamentary question time.
"Obviously I don't agree with the remarks, obviously they are stupid," Ms Gillard said.
Mr Bracken is also the Victorian branch secretary of the Maritime Union of Australia.
He did not respond to calls.
There are many so-called "conspiracy theories" about the September 11 attacks but they are rarely given such prominent voice.
